Vivek Kundra Accepted Lead of Multiple Federal Computer Systems
Vivek Kundra, CIO of the U.S, is responsible for streamlining government operations by way of a sound Information Technology strategy. Previously named Government Technology magazine’s Top 25 Doers, Dreamers, and Drivers, he trusts in the ideal of open government and the knowledgeable use of tech in government. Vivek Kundra was part of President Obama’s transition team and he worked on technology policy for the administration.
Vivek Kundra has a plan for the Federal government involving IT. He plans to make government information readily available to U.S citizens as part of the Federal Government Transparency policy. This includes data that is not private or restricted for national security purposes. He also works to make sure the government does not overspend on technology and that technology employed makes different government agencies work expeditiously. His prior expertise as Chief Technology Officer for Washington, D.C. placed Vivek Kundra well for his current role.
Expensive technology contracts that do not produce significant return on investment are an area where Vivek Kundra also considers the Federal government can save money. To that end, he recently launched the Federal IT Dashboard. He is also working to ensure the government is serious and tough on contractors that do not deliver. His ultimate goal is to gain consultants and contractors that are adding value to the Federal government so the government can serve the masses better. Born in Delhi, India, and raised in Tanzania, Vivek Kundra has a multifaceted educational and work background. He is applying his knowledge and experience in IT to attain these aforementioned goals.
From cloud computing possibilities to holding government contractors responsible for the services they provide, Vivek Kundra works to make smart use of the IT budget he controls. He knows that making the proper IT choices that adopt new mediums and technological advances add to streamlined operations in government agencies. His goal is an Information Technology infrastructure that operates within budget parameters, while delivering extraordinary value to U. S. citizens.
