How Your Body breaks Down the Food We Eat

Posted by admin in Eatery, Health Info, Help + Advice

A person with diabetes mellitus will have trouble with the way his digested food uses glucose to provide energy and growth. Our bodies use glucose, a form of sugar which our digestive system has broken down from the food we eat, which is then transported around the body via the bloodstream. Diabetes causes problems with the distribution of glucose in the bloodstream. It is essential that the glucose is absorbed into the body but this condition creates high levels to accumulate in the blood.

There are two main types of the condition; both are discussed briefly in this article. The first type is called type one and primarily affects young people, usually called juvenile onset diabetes and is where the body completely stops the production of insulin; this can occur at any age but diabetics must take daily insulin injections in order to survive. The body uses insulin to ensure the glucose can be used by the body which in turn converts into energy. Type two affects adults and is sometimes called late onset diabetes; this can be controlled by diet but is caused by problems with the insulin production or its function.

Most of the food humans eat can be converted into sugar which provides us with energy. Prolonged periods of high blood glucose levels can lead to problems like heart disease, kidney complaints, blindness and even limb amputations. Good diabetes care and management can prevent or delay the onset of these complications; some of these conditions can be slowed down whilst others can even be stopped. To manage your condition well, ensure you take your medication; giving up smoking, keep you blood glucose and cholesterol levels stable as well as well as other blood fats are just some of the aspects that require special attention.

You will also need to maintain your weight, and maintain your blood pressure to within the guidelines set by your doctor. Diabetes once recognized in the sufferer will be with them for the rest of their lives; in America there are more than five and a half million recognized sufferers. The problem is that here are probably another 5.5 million people who have this condition but just don’t know it; over 600,000 new cases are diagnosed each year. Official figures show that diabetes causes the death of over thirty four thousand people in America every year but deaths from citizens that have the condition but do not die directly from it is about 320,000.

Tea varieties from all over the World

Posted by admin in Eatery, Shopping Binge, Webbers

During my visits to various countries the world over, I have been lucky enough to be invited by my friends to join in their tea time sessions. You can call it a party or a way to relax but those evening sessions had a grand arrangement with tea served in porcelain tea-pots, cups and saucers in glass, with assorted cakes, pastries, biscuits or sandwiches to accompany them. Most of those times it was clear that the drinks played an important role in the event, in some cases the number of tea varieties presented was huge.

This brings down to my notice a very important aspect of tea drinking tradition. The tea accessories play a vital role in tea drinking. If tea is popular for its aroma and flavor, the accessories play an equally important role in making tea a drink of the elite. As we know that after tea leaves are processed and sold in the market, consumers buy the tea and store them in their houses. Tea storage should be done in specially designed canister that is air-proof and keep the tea fresh. The various tea accessories that are available are tea pots, cups, saucers, tea infusers, brewers and strainers, tea spoons, sugars, milk, storage containers, iced tea pitchers and the tea bags.
