New Set-Top Box in the Market - Virgin Media’s “VH D”
Virgin Media has announced its intention of bringing a new high definition set-top box to customers. This new move follows a steady rise in the number of new high definition channels that are available on its TV platform.
Existing customers can avail of this opportunity if they want to upgrade their service. The new V HD box will be offered to new customers signing up for the ‘M+’ TV tier at a one time cost of £49, plus an additional £35 for the installation service.
From 1 April 2010, Virgin Media will be offering its customers a self-installation option for all those viewers who are already subscribing to its cable network. This option of self-installation is free of any charges for all existing customers and customers interested to save some money should go for this offer, which is open for the month of Aprilin all other circumstances, Virgin Media will charge £15 for this installation.
Within the last few months, Virgin media has increased the number of high definition channels available on its TV platform. The latest to offering from Virgin Media was SCI FI HD, and from April 2 Virgin media also promises to show World Cup 2010 in high definition through ITV1 HD or BBC HD channels. At the moment, Virgin Media’s XL TV users are receiving all the available high definition channels.
The new set top box provides many benefits to the users. It is compatible for 3D viewing and has the latest features like HDMI, SCART, USB and Ethernet ports. The use of this set top box does not consume much electricity because when the box is in stand-by mode, the power consumption is reduced by ninety-five percent.
