Martial Arts: Mind, Body and Spirit Presented Online

Posted by admin in Legal Management

http://www.taichiacademy.com.au/default.htm

I am very interested in Martial Arts, as I’ve been training in Tai Chi on and off for ten years as well as an Internal Martial Art called Wu Dao Gong for a year and a half. I have searched many websites to find a good one to write about but none seem to compare to the site by the actual organization that I am fortunately part of. They are called the Tai Chi Academy and their online magazine can be found at a link from their homepage or at: http://www.taichiacademy.com.au/magazine/index.htm

What I find so remarkable about this site compared to other martial art sites is the variety and depth of information shared with visitors. These people really want to paint a true, honest picture about everything that they do and why they do it. ‘Flow like a river, and be still like a mountain.’ This famous Tai Chi quote epitomizes the flowing yet static style of this website. There must be at least a hundred pages about everything from basic school principles for prospective students to recipes for healthy vegetarian food recipes! Martial Arts are a lifestyle to this school and I believe they want to address all aspects of life in a truly holistic approach.

Integrated throughout the site are heaps of photos (most of which are in vibrant color) depicting the actual training as well as cool photos of their field trips to China etc. The magazine site itself is separated into main categories such as Archived Features, Testimonials, Archived Interviews, Suggested Reading, and Vegetarian Corner for Non-vegetarians as well as Links.

Under the ‘Archived Features’ section is a category entitled ‘Training in Wu Dao Gong’. This couple of pages gives the visitor an excellent, detailed perspective on the philosophy behind this training. If you are then interested in finding out more you can click on the Tai Chi Academy actual Home Page and click on the subheading ‘Courses’. There you can read several more in-depth explanations about all the aspects of the training from meditation to physical exercises and their effects. They emphasize that emotional and spiritual development are integral to moving forward down the path of happiness and peace. They are adamant that this is a course for the arts and is not religious in any way.

I found the ‘Testimonials’ section to be quite interesting as there are a variety of responses from students. They come across as being very authentic as there seems to be such a diverse reaction to the training. The Kung Fu seems to have helped so many people ranging from older women to teenage boys. One aspect that everyone comments on is the lack of ego and competitive nature of the instructors. Just like the website, the stigmatic qualities often associated with Martial Arts is not present here; no one is trying to look cool or be aggressive. This is very important to people whom just want to increase their health and self-defense capabilities like myself.

This website is a perfect example of the true function and intention of the Internet, to share positive information and knowledge around the world. Of course the Tai Chi Academy is a business, but the honest and open format of their website reflects the philosophy of their teachings and is appreciated by visitors. All products’ costs are right there to be seen; as there is nothing to hide when monetary gain is not the sole imperative of an organization. A lot can be learned here by companies’ and individuals’ approaches to constructing an identity on the Internet.

Looking for a Maryland accident lawyer?

Posted by admin in Legal Management

A Maryland accident lawyer isn’t very hard to find. There are lots of them, as in every other American state. The Internet or the Maryland phonebook will help you in finding them. The question is: are you sure you need an accident lawyer? In some cases you will only waste your and their time looking for an accident lawyer when you actually need somebody else.

What is an accident lawyer?

That is true for any American state, including Maryland - an accident lawyer is an attorney specializing ONLY in accidents resulting in an injury. It doesn’t matter whether the said injury is physical, mental or psychological, if it happened or will happen. If there is an injury, there will be a place for an accident lawyer. If not - well, you have to look for someone else. You won’t need to go anywhere, though - the lawyers tend to create universal offices where all kinds of cases are taken care of. In the whole USA, including Maryland, every accident lawyer is crme de la crme of the lawyers’ society, but there are simply not enough accidents around to create accident-dedicated law offices.

Accident lawyers in Maryland

There are many lawyer finders on the Internet, but I think the best place to start is the website. Almost every Maryland accident lawyer has his or her link at this page. But in order to decide which one should be yours, you have to know something more about their offers.

Good practices

First of all if you had an accident which resulted in physical injury you shouldn’t be charged until the case is won. By the way, it’s not only the good practice of attorneys from Maryland, almost every accident lawyer in US doesn’t usually force any upfront payment in such situations. Then you shouldn’t listen to all this optimistic lawyer’s doublespeak, but receive some hard information instead. The lawyer should tell you: (1) what the real chances of winning are; (2) how much the case will cost you and (3) what you should and shouldn’t do in order to win the case.

Bryan Ellis’ thoughts on The Virtualization Of The Real Estate Industry

A relatively new concept in the online world is “Virtual Real Estate Investing“. Everything from using the internet as an avenue to make more money in real estate to online games such as SecondLife seem to be included in the popular definition of this term.

In order to figure out the truth of the matter, I sought out Bryan Ellis, whose experience in the fledgling industry is truly impressive.

“I began using the term ‘virtual real estate investing’ in the late 1990’s when I realized the clear similiarities in profit strategies, regardless of whether the “real estate” is “virtual” or “physical” said Ellis.

Bryan Ellis cites the similar strategies one can employe to make money from “virtual property” and “physical property” as a primary parallel of the two markets. “There’s a huge difference between a website and a piece of real estate, but the ways you can profit from them are similar: ‘flipping’, rental/leasing, advertising sales, etc…all of these apply to both markets” he states.

I must admit: Its easy to see the parallels. Consider: A valuable piece of real estate is valuable largely due to the interest that other people have in that specific location. Similarly, ownership of a desirable domain name is valuable for the same reasons. Regardless of the type of asset, you can sell or lease or use any number of strategies to turn the assets into cash.

In our next installment of this series on virtual real estate investing, Bryan Ellis will share the internet analogies to the physical concept of real estate development.

CCTV Video Equipment Surveillance

Posted by admin in Secure Life

When you find yourself in need of a reliable, compact, affordable and dependable surveillance system, a DVR surveillance security system should be at the top of your list of products to check out. This type of surveillance equipment is easy to operate, simple to install, and can be utilized for a variety of purposes. Most of these systems are also economically priced.

Many of the DVR surveillance security systems on the market today offer many of the same universal features. Some of these systems offer units that can be placed on the dashboard of a vehicle for monitoring outdoor events, placed in your pocket for easy portability, and units that can also be used in homes as well as offices.

If you have hired help who are in your home when you are not, and suspect that something is just not right, or just need piece of mind, you will want to find a DVR surveillance security system that features wide angle views, covert pinhole lenses for the camera unit, a motion detection sensitivity mode, a time and date stamp as well as a searchable play-back mode.

Some DVR surveillance security systems available today even feature television playback so there is no need for software or transferring the information recorded to a VCR tape in order to be viewed. Most units operate on batteries, but it is important to remember that an A/C adapter will come in handy. Make sure that this common accessory is included with the system that you decide to purchase. A DVR surveillance security system that is to be used in the home or office with the aforementioned features will cost approximately a few hundred dollars.

There are also professional DVR surveillance security systems that are used by corporations, large companies, and places where large masses of people gather such as shopping malls, hospitals, and government buildings. Systems such as these feature advanced software, central station managers, numerous channel sensor inputs, as well as multiple video capabilities.

Smaller DVR surveillance security systems, like those used for the home, can be purchased at any major electronics retailer, and at finer camera shops specializing in security recording equipment. The larger systems utilized by corporations can be purchased through professional security companies dealing in recording equipment, and cost thousands of dollars.

The World Wide Web offers those looking for either type of DVR surveillance security system many options. There are a variety of online vendors, many of whom offer special pricing, from which a security system can be purchased.

No matter what your surveillance security needs are, you can rest assured that there is a DVR surveillance security system that will be just what you are looking for.

The Simpsons (Season 3) DVD Review

Posted by admin in Uncategorized

In the late-1980s, a one-minute segment on The Tracy Ullman Show (since long forgotten, except in trivia questions) morphed into its own series. That series was The Simpsons, and it became an anchor for the then-burgeoning FOX network. With a wildly original cast of oddball characters, The Simpsons instantly struck a chord with audiences, becoming the longest running prime time show among all genres, not just the animation genre. Loved by audiences from age 2 to 102, the show is not only hilarious, but in all likelihood, one of the best satires of modern day American life.

The Simpsons (Season 3) DVD offers a number of hilarious episodes including the season premiere in which Homer’s co-workers have him committed after they mistake him for a mental patient. While in the New Bedlam Home for the Emotionally Interesting, Homer meets a tall, stocky white man who claims to be Michael Jackson. The Simpsons befriend the man who eventually admits to being bricklayer Leon Kompowsky… Other notable episodes include “When Flanders Failed” in which Ned Flanders opens a store at the local mall called the “Leftorium” (catering only to left-handed customers) and “Lisa’s Pony” in which Lisa’s overwhelming desire to have her own Pony nearly drives Homer to an early death as he works 24-hours-a-day to afford the expensive pet…

Queer As Folk (Season 4) DVD Review

Posted by admin in Uncategorized

Nominated for 9 Craft Awards (bestowed by the Director’s Guild of Canada), Queer As Folk is a groundbreaking drama series that has built itself a large cult following since its inception in 2000. Based on a British TV series of the same name, Queer As Folk is in many ways similar to HBO’s Sex And The City, and it’s one of the first TV dramas to be completely centered around the lives of homosexual characters, or even have prominent homosexual characters - following on the heels of groundbreaking sitcoms such as Ellen (1994) and Will & Grace (1998). The brainchild of UK-born writer and creator Russell T. Davies, Queer As Folk follows the life and times of a group of gay friends as they live out their respective lives in modern-day America…

Set in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Queer As Folk follows the exploits of a group of gay and lesbian friends who live on or around Liberty Avenue. Most of the scenes take place either in the character’s homes, a local diner, or the popular gay nightclub Babylon. Lindsay Peterson (Thea Gill) and Melanie Marcus (Michelle Clunie) comprise the lone lesbian couple to star in the series, while various gay friends and neighbors such as Brian Kinney (Gale Harold), Michael Novotny-Bruckner (Hal Sparks), Justin Taylor (Randy Harrison), Ted Schmidt (Scott Lowell), Emmett Honeycutt (Peter Paige), etc. deal with each other and their own varying relationships. Composed in a drama/soap opera format, Queer As Folk centers wholly on the careers and lives (including sex, drugs, love, friendships, tragedies, etc.) of its diverse characters, maintaining a specific focus on its attempted realistic portrayal and illustration of the American homosexual lifestyle…

The Queer As Folk (Season 4) DVD features a number of interesting episodes including the season premiere in which Brian has fallen on hard times financially after losing his job and spending a good amount of his own savings trying to defeat the Stockwell for mayor campaign. Although he’s offered his old job back, Brian turns it down because of a non-compete clause slipped into the contract. When his attempt to start his own firm fails, Brian must accept the charity of his friends… Other notable episodes from Season 4 include “Episode 407″ in which Brian is diagnosed with testicular cancer (he’s having a great year!), and “Episode 414″ in which Michael and Ben attempt to get the US government to accept their Canadian marriage…

Below is a list of episodes included on the Queer As Folk (Season 4) DVD:

Episode 57 (Episode 401) Air Date: 04-18-2004

Chess - An Introduction

Posted by admin in Hall Of Games

If you’re thinking of taking up the game of chess there are some basics of the game that you are going to have to learn, obviously. But to become a really good chess player and possibly a master of the game, you are going to have to put in an enormous amount of time into both study of the game and play as well. All the books in the world are not going to turn you into a master chess player without actually getting into the game itself as a player. We’re going to cover just the basics of the game in this article and continue with more advanced instruction as we go along.

Chess is a game played on a board, much like a checkers board. There are two colors in chess, white and black. The player in control of the white pieces goes first, always. In match play between two people they take turns between playing white and black.

There are 16 pieces for each player, consisting of, from low to high in rank, 8 pawns, 2 knights, 2 bishops, 2 rooks, 1 queen and 1 king. Each piece is actually given a value from 1 to 8. The lowest piece is the pawn with a value of 1. After the pawn is the knight and bishop with a value of 3. The way this value was reached was through calculations that a knight and bishop were each worth about 3 pawns. Since a pawn is worth 1, knights and bishops are worth 3 each. The rooks are worth 5 points or 5 pawns and the queen is worth 8 points or 8 pawns. The king has no value but is the most important piece on the board. Once the king is checkmated (more on that later) the game is over, so losing the king is actually a meaningless point.

Before we continue, there should be a comment on the knight and bishop. If you recall, in listing the pieces from low to high, the knight was listed lower than the bishop even though both are worth 3 points. In actuality and again this has been determined from years of research and study into the game, the bishop is actually believed to be worth more than 3 points in a game situation where one side has a knight and the other has a bishop and all other pieces are equal. The bishop, in this situation is believed to be worth 3.5 points.

The object of the game is to checkmate the king. This is accomplished when the king is under attack by a piece of the opposing player and in check but can make no legal moves to get his king out of check. Once this happens the opponent wins and the game is over. If the king cannot move but is the only piece on the board for one player and is not in check then the game is stalemated and a draw. In other words, nobody wins.

In the next article in this series we’ll pick up with the actual movement of each piece.

Procure Mens Swimwear on the Internet

Posted by admin in Dolling Up, Shopping Binge

At the present moment large numbers of people prefer to acquire their swimwear on the Web; shopping online is a simple and appropriate way to shop in the warmth of your own house.

It is imperative to guarantee whilst getting swimwear on the Internet that it fits you exactly. When you acquire swimwear on the Web always make sure that the shop provides a valuable quality sizing chart that gives all of the sizes you may need. With the aid of a sizing chart one can guarantee to acquire a swimsuit or bikini that fits perfectly, thus reducing the need to exchange for another size. The Majority of the swimwear retail shops don’t provide an exchange of goods so it’s usually always better to choose an online shop where exchanges are permitted. Many retail shops will allow the returns of swimwear if the tags and the original wrapping are also returned along with it.

Swimwear is a usual part of the summertime; however a large majority of full-figured females feel intimidated at the thought of shopping for swimsuits & bikinis that fit correctly. These women even ponder over wearing caftans by the swimming pool or at the beach rather than looking unpleasant. Designers & shopkeepers have indentified the fashion issues of the overweight woman, and are finally featuring a wide assortment of stylish bathing suit designs in larger sizes, and the best place to discover such swimwear is to obtain swimwear on the World Wide Web.
