What is the Matter America, Left your Brain in the Living Room?

Posted by admin in Uncategorized

What happened to America, did everyone suddenly get stupid? Indeed and yes, but I have surrendered my mind to the TV set so for me it really is a black and white issue you see. I gave up my mind to the mass media hysteria long ago. It is much easier you see, I do not have to think, I can live in false and created reality and do what the powers that be want me to do and stay caught up in the chaos and controversy, without thinking and thus I am no longer a problem to the powers that be. You are just mad because you still think. Thinking is over rated really, humans do not need such a large brain, they do not us it?

So that’s it, that is the best you can do? Recite what you heard on television last night as an example of your opinion? Of what you really think, what some yo yo or bimbo said on TV, some actor or podium-pushing politician? Are you really buying all that malarkey, without even a private thought or observation of your own out there? Wake up America or are you simply not interested in thinking anymore? Think maybe using that extra cranial capacity over and above the next nearest chimpanzee is over rated? Are you really going to sit there and let an article call you pathetic, inbred and stupid or are you going to turn off the TV and start thinking and observing a little bit? Don’t give up America, think and consider all this in 2006.

The Sky Falls for American Idol Kevin “Chicken Little” Covais

Posted by admin in Uncategorized

Kevin Covais, the self proclaimed “nerdy kid”, has been voted off the hit show American Idol. Kevin rocketed to popularity when host Ryan Seacrest pointed out his strong resemblance to Disney’s latest animated character, Chicken Little. Seacrest was also fond of teasing the teen about his newly found sex symbol status.

From the first audition to his swan song, his pure and controlled voice never seemed to match the child’s body that went with it. Judge Simon Cowell repeatedly told the New York teenager that he didn’t have the look to be a star, but America felt differently and managed to keep him in the competition much longer than odds makers expected.

He stirred up a lot of controversy when an anti-Idol website, called Vote For The Worst, encouraged its visitors to vote for Kevin, keeping him in the competition as long as possible just for the fun of seeing him eat up the attention he was getting from fans and the female contestants. The website claims that it has the ability to taint the competition by influencing votes and getting people kicked off the show prematurely, but with Kevin’s departure their claims to power hold very little weight. Fox, the station that carries American Idol, has been very outspoken in its complaints about the website.

This week Kevin chose to sing the song, “When I Fall in Love” and while judges Randy and Paula fell in love with Kevin’s performance, Simon reserved his love only for Kevin. Saying that he liked the boy, he went on to point out that the song choices Kevin was making and his level of talent set him up to find his biggest fan base in the grandmother set. Perhaps Simon was right, and Kevin was voted off the show because his fans are of an age where they just don’t like to put down their knitting needles and power vote.

American Idol is not new to controversy. Remember Corey Clark’s claim of an affair with judge Paula Abdul and Frenchie Davis’ dismissal when topless pictures surfaced. Unforgettable moments were also provided by UC Berkeley’s William Hung’s rendition of Ricky Martin’s “She Bangs”. Hung has gone on to sign a record deal, record three albums, appear in numerous TV shows and commercials, and feature in both documentaries and movies. Not bad for someone who didn’t even make it through auditions.

American Idol is in its fifth season. Past winners include Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia Barrino, and Carrie Underwood.

Close Encounters for the Dr. Phil Show

Posted by admin in Uncategorized

Are we alone? Not according to one woman who believes aliens are watching her every move. A recent assignment for Solana Productions Inc. found their crew recording an unusual story for the Dr. Phil show.

The woman believed she was visited by aliens in the desert one night years ago. Since then she is convinced they are responsible for just about anything unusual that happens to her. This includes her computer crashing when she was writing the show to tell of her experiences. Apparently the aliens try to prevent her from revealing their presence to anyone. The woman’s husband and four children don’t believe in aliens and tease her about her fears.

Strangely enough, when it came time to shoot b-roll the camera developed a mysterious problem. Solana crews always carry backup recorders so the shoot continued. But the next day our engineer found the camera to be working perfectly and had no explanation for what might have happened.

This is the second close encounter with true believers for Solana Productions. While shooting a Discovery Channel special in Utah we met a character who must hold the record for meeting aliens. He claimed to have been abducted twice and visited several more times. Fortunately our gear survived this shoot intact.

Solana Productions, Inc. provides field crews for broadcast, cable and corporate productions. For more information please contact their Los Angeles and San Diego offices at 800-745-8225, or Seattle at 888-723-4100, or visit the website http://www.solanaproductions.com

The Aviator (DVD) Review

Posted by admin in Uncategorized

Nominated for 6 Golden Globes and 11 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, The Aviator wows audiences with its breadth of scenery and vivid realism. Director Martin Scorsese, known for a host of excellent films such as Raging Bull (1980), Goodfellas (1990), Casino (1995), and Gangs Of New York (2002) - not to mention the highly controversial The Last Temptation Of Christ (1988) - by no doubt turns out his best work since Tommy DeVito (Joe Pesci) sought to become a made man. The Aviator springs to life with nostalgic settings and a lavish tapestry of color and form, evoking all the enthusiasm indicative of Howard Hughes’ unique lust for life. John Logan, known for such films as The Last Samurai (2003) and Gladiator (2000), presents a screenplay that provides some insight into the enigmatic Hughes and captures the mannerisms of those who shared that life with him. In short, the film is a masterpiece of visual imagery and first-rate cinematography few movie lovers can afford to miss…

The Aviator focuses on the early life (1930-1947) of America’s most eccentric and bewildering billionaire playboy, Howard Hughes. Know for his seemingly erratic business dealings and fearless sense of adventure, Hughes (Leonardo DiCaprio) turned a small inherited fortune into an enormous corporate empire. And along the way, he captured the imagination of those around him with an attitude that embraced risk and life itself. Inheriting a majority interest in the Hughes Tool Company (founded by his father), Hughes embarks on a career in Hollywood where he produces a number of notable films including Hell’s Angels, The Front Page, and Scarface. Hughes’ obsessive dedication to perfection makes his stock rise in Hollywood and even helps launch the career of Jean Harlow…

But Howard Hughes is not just a one-trick pony, and his interest soon turns to the flourishing aviation industry where he becomes an integral part of TWA and pilots his own planes on a regular basis. His driving energy would lead Hughes to enter the defense industry, the electronics industry, Las Vegas casinos, and numerous other activities in the years ahead. But along the way, he deals with a cast of characters colorful in their own right. Romances with Ava Gardner (Kate Beckinsale) and Katherine Hepburn (Cate Blanchett) provide insight into Hughes’ personal life, while Noah Dietrich (John C. Reilly), Hughes’ assistant and right-hand man, sacrifices much in his own life to enable Hughes to live out his latest visions and inspirations. When Hughes makes the bold move of constructing the Spruce Goose - the largest airplane ever built (and able to land on water no less) - Senator Ralph Owen Brewster (Alan Alda) accuses the billionaire of war-profiteering. Hughes takes on the Senator full-force and with all the zest that marked his previous ventures. Vowing that the Spruce Goose will fly, in the face of highly publicized claims that it will not, Hughes proves his critics wrong, and the Spruce Goose rises to the occasion…

Despite its loss to Million Dollar Baby at the Oscars, The Aviator can take pride in being nominated as one of the best films of the year (along with Finding Neverland, Ray, and Sideways). And the film is certainly deserving of that high honor. Few films better illustrate the beauty of America, or more importantly, the mountains that can be moved when a single individual lives his life with ambition, drive, inspiration, and a naked enthusiasm for all that life has to offer. Overall, The Aviator is among the best films of the past several years, and movie aficionados would be well-advised to watch every last minute with same enthusiasm of a young Howard Hughes…

24 (Season 3) DVD Review

Posted by admin in Uncategorized

First airing in November 2001, 24 quickly established itself as one of the best television series around and solidified itself as a cult classic icon. Utilizing a novel premise, each season of 24 comprises a single day in lives of its characters, with each of the 24 episodes representing a one-hour time segment of that day. Kiefer Sutherland stars in the imminent role of Jack Bauer, a government agent periodically faced with enormous challenges within a single day. Each season is reminiscent of a fast-paced Hollywood action thriller, but it’s only a busy day in the life of the heroic Bauer…

Season three begins almost three years after Jack’s successful thwarting of a terrorist conspiracy to nuke Los Angeles. An extremely powerful drug kingpin, Ramon Salazar, has recently been captured and imprisoned due to Jack’s efforts, but the Salazar case is far from over. Ramon’s brother contacts federal authorities and threatens to release a deadly virus on the American public unless his brother is immediately freed. Yet again, Jack is tasked with hunting down the terrorists in a 24 hour timeframe… Will he succeed? Or will innocent people die in mass?

The 24 (Season 3) DVD features a number of breathtaking episodes including the season premiere in which a dead body is tossed just outside of a healthcare facility in Los Angeles. The Counter Terrorism Unit quickly learns that the body is infected with a deadly virus, a blatant signal of blackmail when the unit learns of a threat to release the virus at large unless drug lord Ramon Salazar is let out of prison. Meanwhile, President Palmer is preparing a presidential debate in the company of his brother (also his chief-of-staff) and his doctor (also his girlfriend), and Kim who now works at CTU with Jack has secretly been dating her father’s partner, Chase Edmunds… Other notable episodes from Season 3 include (#53) in which Jack is taken hostage in an inmate riot while trying to break Ramon out of prison, and (#71) in which Jack is on the verge of discovering the location of the deadly vials…

Economy in Crisis

Posted by admin in Living With Marketing, Money Making, Web

I have figured out a way to remain unaffected in an economy that is going down the toilet. It is the best thing for me to do to try to get business online. It is proven that one of the only areas that is not going to be affected by this economy is the Internet and Internet sales. This is because people are buying products online to save more money. So, I just got into affiliate Internet marketing program. The way it works is that I have a website that directs people to a specific website where they can buy a product, and I get a cut of whatever that customer buys.

I have wanted to get into the business of Internet sales for a while now, but I have been nervous because I just don’t know what I am doing. I am excited because I know once I get the hang of it I will have a lot of money to spend from all the sales that are coming in. But it the meantime, I just signed up for affiliate marketing make money, and I have no idea what to sell. Then, I found out that there is a tutorial on how to figure out what to sell, and I went out and got it right away.

Hoax Emails - Stop This Rot

Posted by admin in Secure Life

Let me ask you a question: you get a letter in the mail box, delivered by a postman,
asking you to send it on to ten friends or else you will get bad luck.

What do you do? Do you sit down, write out ten copies, get ten envelopes, ten
stamps and then send the ten copies, or do you consign it to the ’round filing
cabinet?’

Most people would put their hands up and say, ooh, ooh, the bin!

Let me take you a step further: you get a letter into your email inbox, delivered
electronically, telling you some sad sack story, bad news, virus alert, good news,
whatever, and it asks you to send it on to everyone in your address book.

What do you do now? If you’re like every other average internet user you’ll go oh, I
should pass this warning on, I don’t want to take the chance that a friend might get
caught with this. So, you trawl through your address book, insert all those email
addresses, hit send and whammo, you’ve just helped spread the latest (or oldest)
email hoax.

Why do people do this? Why, because it’s easier to pass on a hoax and pretend to
yourself that you are ‘protecting’ others, than it is to spend thirty seconds doing a
cursory browser search for that email subject line.

I had a friend who sent me the java debugging email hoax. This hoax tries to
encourage you to delete a legitimate Windows file from your computer. Jdbgmgr.exe
is the file to which the hoax refers, and it is the Microsoft Debugger Registrar for
Java.

Being of a suspicious mind when it comes to emails I ring Microsoft in Australia to
find out if it is correct. When I ring my friend to advise her of this hoax, she wails
down the phone to me, ‘but I’ve already deleted it!’

So how do you know if you have a hoax or not. Well, a genuine virus/trojan/worm
won’t tell you about it, will it? Hoax emails are designed to spread confusion, create
unwarranted traffic with your ISP and clog up the system. They perpetuate and
survive because people don’t use their commonsense and check before hitting that
forward and send set of buttons.

If we all took sixty seconds to check, the world would soon see the end of hoax
emails being spread. It’s probably like seeing the end of smallpox, if we educate
ourselves, our friends, and everyone we knew about these they would soon stop. If
we send back hoax information then we help to educate those who sent it to us in
the first place.

Be considerate. Be careful. Be watchful, but most of all, be well educated for your
own safety.
